New Interreg regulation in sight
European member states and the European Parliament have recently reached a political agreement for the next generation of Interreg programmes. The agreement details that Interreg programmes of the recent EU financial period will be continued and defines their financial envelopes (5.8 billion Euro for cross-border programmes, 1.5 billion Euro for transnational cooperation, 0.5 billion Euro for interregional programmes). Together with decisions regarding the multiannual financial framework of the EU the political agreement allows a quick adoption of the regulations for the implementation of new Interreg programmes. We expect that new programmes will be submitted for approval to the European Commission starting mid 2021.
