Karlsroute II: Cycling route between Chemnitz and Karlovy Vary
The project aims at the further development and promotion of tourism along a cross-border cycling route linking Chemnitz (DE) and Karlovy Vary (CZ). The ‘Karlsroute’ follows mainly cycling paths which already exist, on the Saxon side mainly the cycling routes along the Mulde and Würschnitz river valleys. In addition to the main cross-border route, feeding routes and side tours are developed and linked.
Main activities in the project include the elaboration of tourism concepts, networking between public and private stakeholder, and erecting additional route markers along a stretch of 70 kilometers. Small investments will improve the cycling quality of the route. In the longer term, the activities to promote tourism and stakeholder networking aim for a stronger cross-border cooperation along the Chemnitz-Karlovy Vary axis that goes beyond cycling.
Following a successful project development, core-consult has been awarded the tasks of the external project and financial management by the Lead Partner ‘Zweckverband Multentalradweg’.
