ArchaeoForest: Forestry in the light of climate change
core-consult has been commissioned by Sachsenforst, the State of Saxony’s Forest Management Authority, to elaborate a project to receive financing from the national forest climate funds. The project, in which the State Office for Archeology of Saxony and the Ernst Moritz Arndt University Greifswald are further partners, aims to analyse woods found in medieval mining areas to increase knowledge about the composition of the forest of the Ore Mountains in times when annual average temperatures were higher than in recent centuries, but close to those expected for this century due to the present climate change. In result of the project, forest management strategies can be optimised in the light of the ongoing climate change.
The project has been selected for funding.
