Partner meeting and excursion to the European Green Belt
Project partners of the transnational Danube area project D2C-Dare2Connect met between the 29th and 31st of October 2019 for an international project partner meeting in Virovitica, Croatia right at the croatian-hungarian Green Belt. All partners shortly presented the findings of the field studies they carried out and outlined the further strategy. The University of Vienna presented the first results of a GIS-Analysis of the Green Belt in the Danube area with regards to the gaps between the NATURA 2000 territory and possible suggestions for the corridor.
Following, the participating project partners from eight countries developed a basis for a plan of a transnational model for the European Green Balt in the Danube area. The meeting ended with an excursion of all partners within the Green Belt. Here, the focus was on the diverse requirements and problems of a sustainable river basin management along the Drava. During this excursion, which was partly travelled on bikes, core-consult exchanged experience with croatian parties regarding the requirements and chances of planning and implemention of a cross-border cycle route concept. Particularly impressive was the purchase of more than 100 bikes, stands, helmets and vests within the INTERREG HR-HU IPA CBC „Tourism 4 All” project.
