Mayors agree on cross-border cooperation in disaster aid

On 30 January 2015, the Lord Mayor of Löbau, Dietmar Buchholz, visited his new homologue from Rumburk to speak in the presence of fireworkers of both cities about potentials of a cross-border cooperation in disaster aid. The mayors agreed to present a joint project proposal to receive funding from the new cooperation programme between Saxony and the Czech Republic. Both cities, located in a distance of about 20 minutes by car, have increasingly be struck by local flooding and inundations. The objective of the planned cross-border project is to increase available capacities in case of future natural disasters.
