Large training exercise in Löbau
The joint German-Polish training exercise of the fire brigades was organized on 15th September 2018, which involved about 100 Polish and German firefighters and the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB). On the grounds of the “Ostsächsischen Eisenbahnfreunde in Löbau an accident was simulated with a tanker, which derailed due to heavy rain. The main tasks of the firefighters were: ensuring fire protection with the use of respiratory protective equipment and tailpipes, rescue from the wagons and handing over to the medical service and assistance of the rescue service in transporting the injured to the injury collection point. The role of the injured was played by the youth of the volunteer fire department of both countries. The purpose of the exercise was to develop common ways of dealing with accidents and serious threats as well as environmental damage.
At 10.00 the same day, has found a laying of the foundation stone for the building of the fire station in Kittlitz. The district administrator of the Polish district of Luban, Mr. Walery Czarnecki and Lord Mayor Dietmar Buchholz took a part in it as well other invited guests.
More than 250 people attended the events, including regional TV and print media representatives. This exercise has been organized within the framework of the cross-border INTERREG project “Kom(m)ando” Zur Hilfe! / Na pomoc!”.
