Intensification of cooperation for mining in the Saxon-Polish border area
On 16 November 2017, the first joint conference of the Saxon and Polish mining authorities took place. During the conference i.a. the need for cooperation between the neighbours was strongly emphasized. For centuries, both in Saxony and Lower Silesia, mining has been an engine of economic development. Even today, this sector is very important for the protection and exploitation of raw materials. Representatives of mining authorities, local and regional governments and industry also stressed the importance of ensuring sustainable development to the active mining areas. Therefore, apart from the exchange of experiences and technologies, another focus of the project works will be the development of strategy for management of conflicts occurring on the active mining areas and in their surrounding.
