Exchange of first research results and elaboration of a travelling exhibition

On September 23rd and 24th, 2024, partners of the project ArchaeoTin met in Eibenstock, Germany, to discuss the first results of their joint research efforts to better understand when and how tin mining in the Ore Mountains has developed. They furthermore discussed the concept for a travelling exhibition that will bring the learning closer to the general public. The exhibition is expected to open in November 2025 in Ehrenfriedersdorf, Germany, and in April 2026 in Teplice, Czech Republic. Highlight of the partner meeting was a site visit to the “Sauschwemme” on the foot of the Auersberg where evidence has been unearthed that mining for tin there already had begun in the Bronze age.
