Cross-border geographic portals

When spatial planning takes place in border areas, the usage of the geographical information systems and web portals of the neighbouring region is necessary. Prior discussion between planners from Lower Silesia and Saxony highlighted the need for a better coordination and link between both regions’ geo-information systems. On initiative of the Regional Planning Association of Upper Lusatia and Lower Silesia, experts for geo-information and spatial planning met on 12 & 13 February 2015 at Wroclaw to discuss how to integrate both systems. In parallel, core-consult participated in a meeting of the coordinators responsible for the joint project “Together for the Border Area”, which had provided the framework for the workshop.
